Carvings

The Process of Carvings

Carvings are an essential part of the process of Tamm's finished art pieces. Each carving starts with a sketch or doodle designed on the linoleum. With patience, tools and skill, Tamm begins to carve the layers of each piece.
When each linoleum carving is finished, It will serve two purposes. One being utilized as a stamp for printing. The carving is pressed in ink and then the design is transferred to canvas or paper creating hand made prints.
The second purpose of the carvings is to create impressions. The carving can be pressed into clay or it can be layered with an acrylic gel medium with a spatula. When the gel dries, the impressions are lifted out and layered on canvas to create the art.
